This line does not recognize or identify people — it works only on anonymous counts and density data.
How does store and mall video analytics work?
Video from the IP cameras already installed in the store or mall is processed on an on-site Algi Edge device or on ALGI AI servers and turned into anonymous counts. People passing a door are counted as entries and exits, live occupancy is calculated from the difference, zone density appears as a heat map and checkout waiting as queue data on the dashboard. The system does not recognize or identify people; the dashboard shows counts by hour, door and zone. Combined with till data, conversion rate and peak-hour distribution read on the same screen. In multi-store chains every store is measured the same way on one dashboard.

Frequently asked questions
- What data does Retail Intelligence produce?
- Per-door entry and exit counts, live occupancy, zone density (heat maps), checkout queue and waiting data, empty-shelf alerts and free parking-space counts. Data appears as hourly and daily series on the dashboard and can be exported as CSV or sent to your reporting system over API.
- Are our existing store cameras enough?
- Standard IP cameras with an RTSP stream are used. Angle matters more than resolution: a camera seeing the entrance from above or at an oblique angle suits counting, and a wide-angle camera looking down on a zone suits heat maps. Your camera list is reviewed before installation.
- Is visitor identity processed?
- No. The system does no face recognition, processes no biometric data, does not identify people and does not match a person's repeat visits. What is measured is how many pass a door and how dense a zone gets. Your existing notice obligations for camera recording remain unchanged.
- Is data lost if the internet goes down?
- Not with an on-site Algi Edge device: video is processed in the store, counting continues during an outage and the stored data reaches the dashboard once the connection returns. With processing on ALGI AI servers, counting needs the connection.
- How long does installation take?
- If the cameras are reachable, a single store is set up the same day: the device is connected, streams are defined, and counting lines and zones are drawn. In multi-store chains the first store's configuration is copied to the rest.
