Algi AI Edge: analyse your IP cameras on your own Windows PC

Algi AI Edge is the Windows app of the Algi Edge platform. It runs the analysis on your own Windows PC: it finds the IP cameras on your local network, flags operational events in their streams and produces alerts and reports. Your account and licence are managed through app.algi.ai.

The app is a free download from Microsoft Store; analysis is unlocked by the licence assigned to your account.

Currently available in Microsoft Store in Türkiye; contact us for other regions.

Turkish-first interface; English partially available.

The 'Try for Free' button in the top menu opens the trial wizard in your browser: you choose your packages, verify your card and your account opens in the web dashboard (edge.algi.ai). A trial licence for the Windows app is requested inside the app, from the new-registration option on its welcome screen; no card is asked for there.

WHAT IT DOES

What Algi AI Edge does, and what it does not

As a camera analytics app, Algi AI Edge checks footage against your rules and only gives your team work when a rule is triggered. The daily loop has five steps.

DAILY LOOP

  1. 01 CAMERA

    ANALYSIS ON THIS PC

The camera stream is decoded on this PC and the analysis runs here.

  2. 02 RULE

    EVENT RECORD + FRAME

When the rule condition is met in the zone or on the crossing line you drew, an event record and the frame from that moment are created.

  3. 03 ALERT

    CRITICALVIOLATIONWARNING

The alert lands in the Alerts list with its severity and goes to the right person through the channel you set up: email, WhatsApp, SMS or a Windows desktop notification.

  4. 04 DECISION AND CASE

    REAL EVENTFALSE ALARMNEW → RESOLVED

The operator marks it as a real event or a false alarm. The case is assigned to a team member, notes are added and it is closed as resolved.

  5. 05 REPORT

    .XLSX

The alert list and analytics data export to Excel. A single event gives you a printable report.

What it is not

Not a separate product.

It is the Windows app of the Algi Edge platform; its rules come from the Algi rule catalogue, according to the package in your licence.

Not a device manager.

It turns the Windows PC it is installed on into an analysis point; it does not list or configure other Edge devices in the field.

Not cloud video recording.

Continuous video is never sent to the cloud; camera recordings are kept on your PC.

Not people-centred.

The subject is the event, the zone and the camera; people are counted, or flagged when they enter a zone, with no identity matching.

The app's left-hand menu has three parts. Live operations: dashboard, cameras, recordings, alerts, notifications. Intelligence: analytics, product packages, rules. System: users, logs, settings.

Deployment models, horizontal capabilities and enterprise purchasing are covered on the Algi Edge platform page, and solutions are grouped into five lines. This page covers the work done in the Windows app.

PACKAGES

Packages unlocked by your licence

The installer carries no analysis model. Once approved, the product package in your licence downloads inside the app, encrypted: Plate Reading, Fire and Smoke, Workplace Safety (PPE checks), People Counting, or the NVR recording package, which has no analysis. The app then opens with the active package’s menu, dashboard and default settings.

One package is active on a PC at a time; if your licence covers several, you choose which one runs here. Version, updates, extra packages and switching the active one live on the Product packages card under Settings › Device; no reinstall is needed.

Each package has its own page under Intelligence › Products, with Analytics and Deployments (which cameras it runs on) tabs; the list card shows whether it is in use or not yet configured, and its event count for the last 30 days.

SAFETY INTELLIGENCE

EHS and physical security

Fire and Smoke

WHERE

Warehouses, production floors and car parks, where smoke is often noticed late.

IN THE APP

  • Flame and smoke are detected separately; a detection above the threshold raises a critical alert with the event frame.
  • While the same event continues, a repeat window and event merging stop the alert from firing again and again.
  • The operator closes the event as resolved or as an unnecessary alarm.
  • Cameras are chosen in app.algi.ai › Rules, and the dashboard switches to a fire view (detection types, day × hour density). Analysis runs on your PC with a model we trained ourselves.

Known limits: locomotive steam and blurred red foliage can be mistaken for smoke. Very small or dark fires, sparks in low-quality footage, black-and-white footage and candle flames can be missed.

Related rules: fire detection →

RETAIL INTELLIGENCE

Store and mall analytics

People Counting

FOR MUNICIPALITIES: CITY INTELLIGENCE

WHERE

Store and shopping-centre entrances; for municipalities, comparing footfall across locations.

IN THE APP

  • Every crossing of the virtual line is counted with its direction; entries minus exits gives live occupancy. Vehicle crossings can be counted too.
  • The same crossing is not counted twice, and the count carries no personal identity. The camera screen shows entry, exit and inside counts.
  • Zone presence rules do not mix with the entry count.
  • The daily email report compares with the same day last week, with per-camera rows, an hourly series and the busiest hour; preview it, send it by hand or schedule it.
LOGISTICS INTELLIGENCE

Yard, gate, and port operations

Plate Reading

NO GRAPHICS CARD NEEDED

WHERE

Car parks, residential sites and factory gates.

IN THE APP

  • Reads the plate and matches it against block, allow, VIP or custom lists; lists are imported from CSV.
  • Checks the Turkish plate format (province code, letter and digit pattern; official, diplomatic and temporary plates) and also records vehicles whose plate cannot be read.
  • By default an alert is raised only for a block-list match or a vehicle without a plate; an allow-list match creates an event record and a barrier action. Matching and the barrier command run through the Algi server, so they need a connection.
  • The operator marks a read as correct or incorrect, and the original read is kept.

Workplace Safety, PPE checks

ASK US ABOUT SCOPE

The PPE decision is made on the Algi server. Talk to our team about what the Workplace Safety package covers in the Windows app.

NVR RECORDING PACKAGE

Runs no AI analysis. It records cameras continuously or on motion and deletes the oldest recording when the disk is full. Details are on the Algi NVR page.

GETTING STARTED

From download to first alert: six steps

  1. 01

    Download

Install the app from Microsoft Store. The installer asks no questions and does not make you pick a product. The download is about 141 MB and the installed app about 297 MB; the first launch needs an internet connection.

    APP INSTALLED
  2. 02

    Register or sign in

New registration is the free trial request: name, company, email, phone, the products you want and an estimated camera count, plus data-processing consent; no card is asked for. With an existing licence you sign in with your account or a licence key. The request then waits for approval; once approved, the licence loads onto this PC automatically.

    REQUEST OR SIGN-IN
  3. 03

    Hardware check

The wizard checks the processor (AVX2), core count, memory and free disk against the chosen package and rates the PC as suitable, limited or insufficient, giving an approximate camera count for suitable or limited. If it is insufficient, it lists what is missing and offers a hardware recommendation link. You can confirm and continue; the app warns that analysis will not run reliably on that hardware. The licence is then validated.

    Request a hardware recommendation →
    SUITABLE · LIMITED · INSUFFICIENT
  4. 04

    Package

A single package downloads (10–35 MB) and activates on its own; with several, you choose the one for this PC. For plate reading, the reading engine (about 300 MB) installs itself. With an NVIDIA card, the wizard offers to install missing acceleration libraries from inside the app. The package is verified in the last step.

    PACKAGE ACTIVE
  5. 05

    Cameras

'Scan Network' lists ONVIF/RTSP cameras on your local network and USB cameras on this PC; 'Add RTSP' lets you enter an address, plus a username and password if needed. For an ONVIF device whose stream address cannot be discovered, you enter the RTSP address yourself. The connection test in the camera table tries the stream, ONVIF connection, password, port and motion event. With several locations, you assign the PC to one under Settings › Device.

    CAMERAS LIVE
  6. 06

    Rules and notifications

On the Rules page you add the ready-made rule packages for the services you selected to your catalogue; you decide which cameras they run on. On the camera screen you pick a rule, draw the zone or crossing line and save. A new rule is added paused and only runs once you start it, so a half-finished setup never raises alerts. Finally, add a notification channel and send a test.

    FIRST ALERT REACHES YOUR TEAM

Trial and licence

TRIAL

  1. NEW REGISTRATION
  2. APPROVAL PENDING
  3. LICENCE LOADED

Inside the app you can request a free trial licence without a credit card; it is activated after our team approves it. The trial licence limits camera count, offline time and device count; its length and scope are stated in the approval email. A trial is given once per PC and per email address.

To start in your browser instead, use the Try for Free wizard on our website; that path asks for a card verification and opens your account in the web dashboard (edge.algi.ai).

LICENCE

No payment is taken inside the app. The Buy link in the app opens the app.algi.ai licence page in your browser, where you choose your package and verify your card on a secure payment page.

For camera count, deployment model and invoicing you can work with our team through the quote form or at algi@algi.ai.

The licence belongs to your organisation and runs on as many PCs as your plan allows. Plan, expiry date and device limit appear under Settings › License, together with the upgrade button.

Are your cameras ready?

What matters is RTSP or ONVIF support, not the camera brand. Mount the camera at least 2.5 m above the ground, level with the horizon; recommended placement by scenario:

SCENARIOMOUNTING HEIGHTANGLE
Store entrance (people counting) 2.5–3.0 m Top-down
Corridor and open area 3–4 m 30–45°
Emergency exit 2.5–3.0 m Level, whole door in view
Warehouse and factory 4–5 m 30–45°
Car park entrance (plates) 3.0–3.5 m Level, mind the camera alignment

Stream settings: H.264 or H.265; 15–25 FPS and at least 1080p are recommended, with a static IP or DDNS preferred. With H.265 streams, live playback is not guaranteed on every system.

People counting note: two cameras with overlapping fields of view can count the same person twice, so counting cameras are placed with that in mind.

CAMERAS

Cameras, zones and rules

The Cameras page has four views: Visual (grid), Table, Services and Map. The grid shows 4, 6 or 12 cameras per page, in an equal grid or a '1 large + 3', '1 large + 5', '1 large + 7' or '2 large + 8' layout. Cameras without a rule also appear live; the last frame shows until the picture arrives, and a recording camera shows a red REC dot.

Cameras are organised in nested groups. Automatic grouping by name splits consistently named cameras into location and direction groups in one click, touching only ungrouped cameras. Groups work as filter chips on the Cameras and Alerts pages. The map view marks each camera's position, direction and field of view, shared with every user in your organisation.

Camera screen

The header strip switches the camera, recording and analysis on or off with one button each and shows the frame rate and resolution the analysis runs at. Zones, lines and detection boxes are drawn over the live image, and the line is highlighted at a crossing. The Recent Events tab lists the latest confirmed events on that camera (passed visual verification or marked as a real event by an operator) with images, above a mini map of its location.

Drawing zones

On a polygon, double-click adds a corner and right-click removes one. Around a counting line you set a counting buffer that you resize by dragging. Changes are saved on purpose with the update button, and unsaved changes are marked.

ZONE TYPES

  • POLYGON
  • RECTANGLE
  • LINE
  • FULL FRAME

Rules

Several rules can run on one camera, each with its own events. A rule is defined once, deployed to the cameras you choose and bound to a ready-made analysis model, for example a violation rule for motorcycles entering a pedestrian zone. Zone rule examples: restricted zone entry, hazardous zone entry; more examples are in the rule library.

Processing flow

ALGI_AI_EDGE · PROCESSING FLOW REPRESENTATIVE · STORE IMAGE
Algi AI Edge processing flow editor: camera input, motion threshold, full-frame zone, fire and smoke model, notification and report nodes connected left to right
Processing flow: camera → motion threshold → zone → fire/smoke model → notification → report. Each step is edited as a node. Interface shown in Turkish.

Each camera's analysis steps appear as nodes: camera, motion threshold, zone (polygon, rectangle, line, full frame), class detection, notification and video recording. One button opens a performance report for that camera's flow (time per stage, processor and memory use, suggestions), and changes are saved automatically.

The live-view setting and the analysis resolution are separate, so lightening the live view does not affect the analysis. Frame rate and bitrate are set per camera.

Recording and archive

Recording is continuous or motion-based per camera and is written without re-encoding. Retention is set per camera between 1 and 365 days, 7 by default, and the recording folder can be changed.

On the Recordings page you pick a camera and a date (and an hour if needed) and play a segment; each camera shows a REC, on or off chip. A recording can be trimmed and exported, or saved elsewhere.

If a camera does not appear

  1. 01 Check the reason it is not working in the Table view (for example, no picture or RTSP unreachable).
  2. 02 Check the messages on the Logs page.
  3. 03 Check the processor, memory and graphics load on the Dashboard.

The app tries to recover cameras that fail on its own.

ALERTS

From alert to report: triage, cases and export

The Dashboard is the first page you see: overall system health and an operations summary on one screen. Unread alerts and unhealthy cameras show as badges in the left-hand menu.

The Alerts page lists rule violations and zone entries with camera, time, severity and event frame. Severity chips are Critical, Violation, Error, Warning and Info. Preset ranges are the last hour, 24 hours, 3, 7 and 30 days, or a custom range. There are camera, rule and group filters and a search across title, camera and rule. Selected alerts, or everything in a filter, can be marked as read or deleted.

Visual verification (optional, off by default). When on, the alert frame is checked on the server for whether the object the rule expects is really visible. Alerts split into three tabs: verified (the object is really there), unverified (not yet reached in the queue) and not verified (failed or could not be checked). Verification is limited by capacity; an alert that cannot join the queue is not lost, it is marked as not checked in the not-verified tab.

  • VERIFIED
  • UNVERIFIED
  • NOT VERIFIED

Triage. The alert panel shows the rule, camera, time, confidence and visual verification result; the decision takes one of two buttons, real event or false alarm. One action plays the recording from the moment of the event, another opens the camera live. With the correction tool you draw the right box and class and send it; feedback is collected on the server and false-alarm statistics are kept.

Case management. An alert is set to new, in review, resolved, closed or unnecessary, assigned to a team member, and every note is saved with its author and time. Once enough samples build up, the case panel shows the unnecessary-alarm rate for that camera and rule over the last 7 days, with a threshold and zone suggestion and a link to the rule settings.

Reports and export

The Analytics page turns detections into per-rule indicators, hourly charts and a live now view; ranges are 24 hours, 3, 7 and 30 days, and the tabs change with the active package. When several rules run on one camera, each has its own indicator block, so counting, violation and zone-presence metrics never mix.

NOTIFICATIONS

Who gets the alert: notification channels and team

Channels are managed under Settings › Notifications › Notification Channels; each row shows name, type, target, severity filter and status (on/off), and new channels are added from the same screen.

Each channel has a severity filter and a trigger condition: specific rules or specific classes. For example, critical alerts from the fire rule can go only to the maintenance lead's phone as an SMS. A single alert can also be sent by hand to a department or a person from the app.algi.ai web panel.

The test button sends a test notification to every recipient and shows how many succeeded; a recently-sent tab lists the last 50 notifications with status and any error.

At most one notification per hour is sent for the same violation. For control rooms, a setting can bring the app window to the front when an alarm arrives. Email, WhatsApp and SMS notifications are sent through app.algi.ai.

OPERATING CONDITIONS

Operating conditions and system requirements

Algi AI Edge is a Windows desktop app and analyses camera streams while the app is open. Minimising the window to the system tray keeps the analysis running; quitting the app or signing out of Windows stops it. The app does not start by itself when the PC boots.

The close button offers cancel, hide to tray and quit completely. Analysis does not run as a Windows service, and the app does not keep the PC from going to sleep: for continuous analysis the PC must be on, the Windows session signed in and the app running.

STATEANALYSIS
Window open CONTINUES
Hidden to tray CONTINUES
Quit completely, or Exit in the tray STOPS
Windows session signed out STOPS
PC restarted DOES NOT START The app does not start by itself
Internet lost CONTINUES Analysis and recording continue for as long as your plan allows; plate matching and barrier actions stop

Internet. Needed at first launch, to validate the licence and download the analysis package. After that the app works offline for as long as your licence plan allows; events wait on the PC and are sent without duplicates once the connection is back. Frames of events that happen while offline are not sent later; they stay on the PC. Email, WhatsApp and SMS notifications and optional visual verification need a connection. In plate reading, list matching, plate alerts and barrier actions run on the Algi server; without a connection reads wait on the PC, and matching and barrier actions do not run. An expired licence cannot run offline.

If the licence expires, the app does not close; a licence-expired screen offers to renew or pay, check again or enter a new licence. Data and settings are kept, and once the licence is extended the app carries on where it left off, with no reinstall.

With the motion threshold on, heavy analysis only runs when there is motion in the scene.

Updates. Microsoft Store updates the app. Analysis package versions are checked in the background on every launch and new versions download quietly; version and size appear on the Product packages card.

System requirements

Windows 10 (version 1809, build 17763) or later, x64. There is no ARM64 package, and no macOS or Linux version is available on Microsoft Store. The thresholds are the ones the setup wizard uses.

A graphics card is optional: if there is one, the app uses it automatically; on NVIDIA cards the acceleration libraries are installed from inside the app, and without NVIDIA it runs on a DirectX 12 compatible graphics card or on the processor. Without an NVIDIA card or a graphics card with at least 2 GB of memory, the hardware check returns 'limited' at best.

Capacity depends on the hardware; the app measures your PC during setup and tells you an approximate camera count, and the upper limit comes from your licence plan. For multi-camera installations, ask us for a hardware recommendation. The NVR recording package, which has no analysis, does not need AVX2 and runs with at least 4 GB of memory; the recording setup is covered on the Algi NVR page.

DATA

Where each piece of data lives

The live video stream and camera recordings stay on your PC, and the analysis runs there. When a rule is triggered, the event record and a single frame from that moment are sent to the Algi server (app.algi.ai) for dashboards and notifications. In the plate reading package, read records and the images of events that match a list are sent as well. Continuous video is never sent.

What goes to the cloud for plate reading

For plate reading you decide what goes to the cloud. If you choose 'none', reads stay on the PC, but list matching and alerts stop working. With the default 'alerts only' setting, the frame plus plate and vehicle crops are sent for list matches and no-plate alerts. By default, unmatched reads are kept for 90 days and reads that match a list or trigger an action for 365 days; both are adjustable.

Done on the server. If optional visual verification is on, the alert frame is assessed on the server. In plate reading, list matching, plate alerts and the barrier command are produced on the server.

Analysis packages reach the PC encrypted and signed. A package is bound to the licence and the hardware and will not open on another PC.

In people counting, the same crossing is kept from being counted twice only within a single camera; there is no identity matching across cameras.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions asked before downloading

Is Algi AI Edge paid?

The app is a free download from Microsoft Store; analysis needs an Algi AI account and an active licence. Inside the app you can request a free trial licence without a credit card; it is activated after our team approves it, and its length and scope are stated in the approval email. To start in your browser instead, the Try for Free wizard on our website asks for a card verification and opens your account in the web dashboard (edge.algi.ai). No payment is taken inside the app: the Buy link opens the app.algi.ai licence page in your browser, where you choose your package and verify your card on a secure payment page. For camera count, deployment model and invoicing you can also work with our team through the quote form or at algi@algi.ai.

How do I get a trial licence?

When you first open the app, choose new registration and enter your name, company, email, phone, the products you want to try and an estimated camera count, then give data-processing consent. No card details are asked for. The screen switches to approval pending; once our team approves, the licence loads onto this PC automatically. The trial licence limits camera count, offline time and device count. A trial is given once per PC and per email address.

Do I need separate programs for people counting, fire detection and plate reading?

No. There is a single installer and it carries no analysis model. Once your licence is approved, the package it covers (Fire and Smoke, Workplace Safety, People Counting, Plate Reading, or the NVR recording package with no analysis) downloads inside the app, encrypted. One package is active on a PC at a time; you install and activate another from the Product packages card under Settings › Device. Adding or updating a package never requires reinstalling.

Which IP cameras does it work with?

It works with IP cameras that provide an RTSP or RTSPS stream, ONVIF-compatible devices, HTTP(S) MJPEG streams and USB cameras plugged into the PC; H.264 and H.265 streams are supported (with H.265, live playback is not guaranteed on every system). What matters is RTSP or ONVIF support, not the camera brand. Scan Network lists the cameras on your local network; for an ONVIF device whose stream address cannot be discovered, you enter the RTSP address yourself. The connection test in the camera table checks the connection, password and port.

Is my PC good enough, and do I need a graphics card?

The analysis packages need an x64 processor with AVX2 (Intel Core 4th generation or later, or AMD Ryzen) and at least 6 GB of memory, 8 GB recommended. Plate reading needs at least 8 GB, 16 GB recommended. A graphics card is optional: if there is one, the app uses it automatically, and on NVIDIA cards the acceleration libraries are installed from inside the app. The setup wizard rates your PC for the chosen package as suitable, limited or insufficient; if it is insufficient, it lists what is missing and points you to us for a hardware recommendation.

How many cameras can one PC analyse?

Capacity depends on the PC hardware and the package you choose, so we do not give a fixed number. The setup wizard measures your PC and tells you an approximate camera count. The upper limit on cameras comes from your licence plan. For multi-camera installations you can ask us for a hardware recommendation.

Does analysis continue if I close the app or the PC restarts?

Algi AI Edge analyses camera streams while the app is open. If you choose hide to tray when closing the window, the app moves to the system tray and analysis continues. Quitting completely, or Exit in the tray menu, closes the app, and analysis also stops when the Windows session is signed out. The app does not start by itself when the PC boots and does not keep the PC from going to sleep. For continuous analysis the PC must be on, the session signed in and the app running.

What happens if the internet goes down?

The first launch needs a connection, to validate the licence and download the analysis package. After that the app works offline for as long as your licence plan allows; analysis and recording continue, events wait on the PC and are sent without duplicates once the connection is back.

Does my footage go to the cloud?

The live video stream and camera recordings stay on your PC, and the analysis runs there. When a rule is triggered, the event record and a single frame from that moment are sent to the Algi server (app.algi.ai) for dashboards and notifications. In the plate reading package, read records and the images of events that match a list are sent as well; you choose what goes to the cloud in the plate settings. Continuous video is never sent.

How do I reduce false alarms?

In the triage window, mark the alert as a false alarm or correct it by drawing the right box and class; feedback is collected on the server. Once enough samples build up for the same camera and rule, the case panel shows the unnecessary-alarm rate for the last 7 days with a threshold and zone suggestion, and links to the rule settings. If you switch on optional visual verification, the alert frame is checked on the server and alerts that fail are moved to the not-verified tab. At most one notification per hour is sent for the same violation.

Can my team use the app on the same licence?

Yes. The licence belongs to your organisation; every member you invite by email from the Users page uses the same licence, and a new member needs no extra licence. Members have one of four roles: owner, admin, operator and viewer. Alerts are assigned to members, notes are kept with their author and time, and the Logs page shows system events from the last 7 days. The licence runs on as many PCs as your plan allows.

Are Algi AI Edge and Algi Edge the same thing?

Algi Edge is the platform ALGI solutions run on. Algi AI Edge is the Windows app of that platform: it takes its rules from the Algi rule catalogue, according to the package in your licence and runs the analysis on your own PC. It does not manage other Edge devices; it turns the PC it is installed on into an analysis point. Your account and licence are managed through app.algi.ai.
